Activated September 15, 1942 at Cp. Adair, Oregon - transferred March 11, 1944 to Cp. Carson, Colorado - staged at Cp. Kilmer, New Jersey August 16, 1944 . The Division departed New York P/E August 27, 1944 and arrived in France (Cherbourg) September 7, 1944 . It crossed into Belgium October 15, 1944, and entered Holland October 27, 1944 . Germany was reached November 7, 1945 . The "Timberwolves" embarked in Le Havre and returned to New York P/E July 3, 1945, they arrived at Cp. San Luis Obispo, California July 9, 1945 . The Division  was inactivated on site December 20, 1945 . Campaigns: Northern France - Rhineland - Central Europe .
