The line itself is approximately 17-inch long . SLEEVE,GAS DETECTION

SELF MADE

The Gas Detection Sleeve (or armband) was introduced to detect any possible use of poison gas by the enemy . This brown/olive drab colored and chemically treated paper brassard (often manufactured in England) was worn on the upper left sleeve, and was supposed to react by change of color in the presence of poison gas . It was attached by means of looped brown cotton tape, which could be wrapped on the M-1941 Field Jacket shoulder loop . (our model is based on a genuine item, and has been constructed of heavy brown wrapping paper, with some glue, regular stitching and a light cover of varnish)

ROPE, PARACHUTIST

SELF MADE

Rope made of unbleached plaited cotton material . Its purpose was to help paratroopers when they found themselves in tricky situations after landing . It could then be used to clear high obstacles, to move from trees, or just for general use . The rope measures approximately 33 feet . (our model is based on a genuine period item, and is also manufactured from unbleached cotton rope)

GRENADE, HAND, FRAGMENTATION, MK II

SELF MADE

The Fragmentation MK II Handgrenade is an explosive device packed in a body designed to fragment  with the action of the bursting charge . The body is made of cast iron and the outside surface is serrated horizontally and vertically to assist in forming uniform fragments when the grenade explodes . The Fragmentation Grenade closes with a fuze sealer containing fuze assembly, primer, striker and spring, while its top holds the safety lever with safety cotter pin . The above is the current Fragmentation MK II Grenade which is packed fuzed ! (an older type of this grenade, Grenade, Hand, Fragmentation, HE, MK II, Unfuzed, also came with a TNT filler and a separately packed detonating fuze) . (our model is based on a genuine item, i.e. the fuzed type, and was manufactured with help of a mould for body and fuze, while the safety lever was made out of metal with help of a press and jig, after a decent paint job, it looks very convincing)

BUMPER, FRONT, TRUCK ¼ TON 4 X 4

SELF MADE

The Front Bumper of a Jeep is a rectangular shaped part made of heavy gauge steel which is fixed by 4 nuts and bolts to the front crossmember of the vehicle . It is strengthened by adding a wooden block in its center part . Since it is a rather simple item to manufacture, we have chosen to manufacture it ourselves, enabling us to store a number of (front) bumpers already adorned with specific markings needed for particular WWII impressions . (our models are based on a genuine item, and were constructed by one of our members, it consists of heavy steel plate, ready for application of a good primer and two subsequent layers of the correct olive drab finish, followed by the necessary artwork, i.e. full unit markings as per Army Regulations)      Description : XVIIIth Airborne Corps-HQ and HQ Company-26th Vehicle + 104th Infantry Division-104th Counter Intelligence Corps Detachment-5th Vehicle (bumpers recreated by T/4 "Hank J.
